Who To Be? Who To Be Indeed?
The first task that you have to get to in Trials in Tainted Space is that you need to create your character. This game is deep and I mean super deep with its character creation and you can meld together characters from all kinds of walks of intergalactic life. You do not have to be just a human there are a ton of other races that you can be and there is a detailed back story and fact file for each of them.
The game is all text-based so it is all left up to your imagination. What is interesting is that the text does actually start to paint some pretty damn graphic pictures in your head!

The game has many RPG mechanics to it and once you create your character you set off on your adventure. The game has a grid to the left of where the text is and this is your “map” each area you go in will have people to talk to, do and of course fight, but there are other areas on the grid where nothing happens except a description of the area you are in.
Combat in the game is I guess ok. I can see some finding it rather boring, but there is at least a little bit of difference between each of the races/classes. You can only use melee or ranged weapons, not both which is a bit annoying if I am honest with you. The game is funded on Patreon and they do allow access to the current builds of the game so I am sure it will just keep on improving and they do seem to be listening to what fans are saying.
To tell you the truth, Trials in Tainted Space is not a game for me. It is not the sex or the debauchery of it at all, far from it. I am just not a person who is into heavily texted based games. I get that the game can paint a picture in your head, but I guess I just need more than that. On the flip side of this, I can see why so many people lose so many hours to this game! Just be warned, it can be very filthy!
Final Score: 6/10 (but to be fair it is just not for me)
Pros:
- Lots of characters to create
- The universe in the game is huge
- I like the way there is kind of a map to help you progress
- It does have combat
- It is very, very naughty!
Cons:
- I wish I could really see what is going on
- Most certainly not a game that is for everyone

I’m still working through reviewing Mirrin, but at least I’m well past the 100 page mark. There’s a few factors slowing me down:

- Dealing with a lot of stress related to trying to buy a house. Turns out that banks hate people with all their bills paid off and no debts, which has me scrambling to provide them with various bill payment paperworks and still trying to get a mortgage approved. (I currently live in a medium-sized apartment and would rather not empty the TiTS bank for my own personal house :P)
- Tomorrow I am having some dental deep cleaning done which will require a fair amount of pain killers and whatnot.
- The day after tomorrow I’m having the other half of my dental work done. Supposedly I’m not cavity riddled – there’s just a lot of tartar buildup to deal with around/under the gum line.
- Protip: get your regular cleanings, folks.
I’m gonna try and do some more reviewing now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I don’t get that far. My nerves are basically shot. Thanks, anxiety, you bitch.
